ooi started out as an online collaboration between three internet friends from Berlin and Munich desiring to make indie pop that ventures off the beaten path. After releasing their first single in 2018, their quirky and distinct sound quickly caught the attention of music platforms around the globe, leading to several single releases with Kitsuné, over a million streams, and features by H&M, Majestic Casual, Nice Guys, and many more.
Leading up to the release of their debut album Good Luck Charms in October 2022 via the Berlin based imprint Majestic Casual Records, ooi are set to release four singles.
The first single In The Dark will be released on May 27th 2022. While the title might suggest that the trio got overwhelmed by the challenges of the last two years, the soft plucked bass and warm guitar chords quickly set a soothing, warming atmosphere. Nicolas’s voice sounds vulnerable in the beginning, but an uplifting melody and choir join in as the song continues. Soon you find yourself longing to be lovesick on a warm summer night, with a weird desire to be lifted up and hurt at the same time.
This swaying between grim and joyful is a leitmotif on Good Luck Charms. The trio was forced to return to their workflow from their very first days, sharing demos remotely. What seemed like an obstacle at first soon turned out to allow them to dive deeper into the little details of their songwriting, refining sounds and production workflows. After being isolated from another for some time, they took their demos to a barn in Tuscany as soon as they could get back together. Setting up their studio in the sunny hills near Lucca sparked the warm and blissful ideas for Good Luck Charms - which we all need more than ever.

Fun facts: ooi is pronounced “oh-wee” and always releases in accordance with the lunar calendar — expect new releases with the coming New and Full Moons.
